The Pennsylvania State University mathematics professor, Boris Weisfeiler, 1979
The Pennsylvania State University mathematics professor, Boris Weisfeiler, has been missing since January 1985.
A Russian-born naturalized U.S. citizen, Prof. Weisfeiler, an avid outdoors-man, was 43 when he was arrested by a military patrol while camping near Parral, 210 miles south of the capital Santiago in 1985.
Presumably, he was walking in the area of a German colony called Colonia Dignidad. He was never seen again.
“The circumstances behind the disappearance of Weisfeiler who, Chilean authorities and his sister say, was in the country as a tourist, has remained a mystery."
